Serj Tankian the lead singer of System of a Down recently released his first solo album: “Elect the dead”.

He did most of the instrumentals but also got some help from friends like SOAD’s drummer and more.

As usual with Serj Tankian, the lyrics are all about what’s happening in the World nowadays, so expect topics such as the war in Iraq, poverty etc…

The album is less “metal” style than SOAD’s music but still pretty cool and you can easily recognize Tankian’s style.

Here are three video clips I found on YouTube (official videos) from the songs I like the most on the album:

Enjoy :D !

  1. I love this album. Serj doesn’t need Daron’s madness to do a great album and he proved it with this CD. Good job!

Ps : My best songs are “the unthinking majority”, “Saving Us” and “Lie, Lie, Lie”

Even though I loved SOAD’s guitar approach, the latest albums with daron’s singing on them were a bit ruined because of his vocals (that I don’t like at all).

I dont think that Serj will do any better than what he did with SOAD i believe that this situation is only temporary for and that it is in his best interests to do this, but for only a short amount of time because honestly it sucks and i love SOAD

  2. He rocks, no 2 words about it. His lyrics are visionary and kinda remind me of tool.
