Epic Games and Microsoft finally released a patch (well 2 patches in fact 
) for their game Gears of War (PC) that was full of bug and crashed for many users !You can get the update on the Games for Windows Live interface or on their website:

After some time I also found some various Gears of War fix, submitted by users on the Epic Games forums:

I have tried all of them and they don’t work. Except I applied a crack that someone made for it and it seemed to work better than before. You can download the torrent somewhere.
I’m not sure if it works that well I’m just doing a complete re install and applying their crack without using the patch from the game provider.

The second link gives directions what to do, but i cant find folder Microsoft games there.
Go to Start, click Run, type “regedit,” and then press Enter to launch the Registry Editor
Go to the following registry entry: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Gears of War\]
Change the “SetupPath” value so that the word “binaries” is capitalized. For example: “C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Gears of War\binaries\” becomes “C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Gears of War\Binaries\”

i tried this and it worked for me.i in the last act.till mow no crashes.My friend finished the game using this.

PS: Looks like it works on WinXP only, not on Vista.
I also had the serious crashing problem…..it was occuring mostly during cut scenes and checkpoint areas. I tried many different things, everything I googled for a fix I tried it and nothing seemed to work at all. Then found this thread and tried what lalu suggested and low and behold instant fix! Just played for 2 hours straight with no crash or problems as before I was crashing every 5 minutes or so.

just delete this file located in the intsalled dir.
and follow these steps

EDIT:
u have to complete the game, otherwise it doesn’t save the game progress.
everytime u have to start from ist stage, if u delete the above mentioned file.
ok i manged to go to the regedit thing and get to the name PagedPoolSize,
so what next what is fffffffff ?? what to do with it any way i tryed to change
the value data and the game didnt start at all any help?
un install windowsblinds. worked 4 me
i have finished gears of war and i played the game for long periods of time and it never crashed. yes i had problems with the game not gettin saved so i finished it in one go without ne crashes

seagate 160gb hdd
yes i also have Vista, which i think is great cuz it hasn’t given me ne problems yet

i have a problem with my mouse and control pad
the problem with the control pad is that if you go foward it goes backward :s right and left are good, but foward and backward are inversed…. and with the mouse is that it doesnt works like the aim, it controls the foward and backward moves like the same job of the arrows, is very weird!!! pls hlp me…

Gears Of war Working fine but berseaker keep killing me. i am giving up. i am not a gamer. i play sometime to pass time. but this game is super hard. i was able to finish the biginning but when berseaker shows up. no more, that basterd keep killing me. i tried more than 40 times already. now i am giving up.

Did you have the “wargame-g4wlive.exe” crash before uninstalling windowblinds??
Okay for some reason im havin the same problem. I had the game for about a year now and still doesnt work. Keep’s crashing on me. First it tells me i need a certain driver and when i install that driver it says that it cant do it…. also my specs are

I seem to be having a weird crash its completely errorless and no matter how i set my settings it keeps crashing. It is possible that its because im using a cracked copy but it was working fine for quite awhile and now poof nothing it jsut closes no message no nothing its very disappointing, any suggestions?
