You can view the videos on the website I just linked, it’s really crazy. They managed to make evolutive textures, that will age and get deteriorated in time: metal will get rusty, wood will get wet and rott etc …

Epic Games and Microsoft finally released a patch (well 2 patches in fact ) for their game Gears of War (PC) that was full of bug and crashed for many users !You can get the update on the Games for Windows Live interface or on their website:
Today I’m just going to link you a few videos I found on YouTube and I think are cool and a quite original quiz I stumbled upon.
The first one is about the Writers Guild of America, who recently conducted several strikes to get more money for their work. Whether they write a movie scenario, song lyrics or whatever, they always get paid a misery for their work.
This if course is totally weird and not right! So even though I’m not an american citizen, I support these guys !
while the producing companies just get all the big bucks.

The second video is about some dude that skates in a bowl full of balloons lol, even though it’s completly stupid, the idea is still quite original:
And finally a few quizes I found on the internet: one is about how much booze you can drink in a row until it kills you (of course it’s not true), the second one is about how much is your dead body worth (really stupid lol) and the final one is about how long could you survive in case of a zombie invasion lol. I bought Team Fortress 2 from Valve and I must say: this game trully rocks !
Great graphical style: the game looks like a cartoon with a 60’s atmosphere. Kind of like in the Pixar movie The Incredible (which is amazing also by the way ).
The game play is rich and fun, and with amazing character animation, this is really one of the games to have this year !
You have the choice between different classes, including a pyro, a heavy weapons guy, medic, engineer and so on ;).
Each team has to defend it’s base represented by capture points to defend/attack, intelligence briefcases to captures (sort of CTF mode) etc.
The graphics are simple due to the cartoonish style of the game but they still are very nice with cool HDR lighting, soft shadows and so forth.
Another cool feature of the game is the audio environement: whether it’s the musics, the jingles when you win / loose or the lines that characters throw in once in a while when killing someone or getting bullets in their face etc.
Trully a must have if you want to have a lot of fun in a cool, crazy action-packed teambased game !

Now let’s talk about Gears of War for PC !
I bought the game the day it came out and right from the install window the game is full of bugs.
Once you managed to install the thing, you can’t even play online since it’s always making the game crash (and I’m not the only one with these problems lol, everyone has bugs and crashes)
And when you play the singleplayer campaign you still have crashes but you can still play for about a few minutes before the fatal error screen lol.
However, I managed to finish the first chapter, and I must say, a part from the technical problems I just explained, the game totally rocks ! Very well optimised, so even if you have a “old” PC you can play it (I have a P4 3ghz with 1gb or ram and a 6600GT card).
The visual aspect is completely stunning: the game takes place in a post-apocalyptic world invaded by bad ass monsters.
Plus the action and gameplay are simple but effective and very fun.
It’s not an FPS, you have to hide behind walls, cars and stuff to take cover and you can shoot from there.
You progress with a squad that help you throughout the game and also entertain you a lot (some of the lines they throw in are very “hollywood blockbuster oriented” lol).
On the multiplayer side, the game has a coop mode which let’s you go through the campaign with a friend online or on LAN, and various online modes such as Deathmatch, Assassination (you have to kill the leader of the other team), King of the Hill, and a few others.
All that must be very nice, but I couldn’t play any of those yet since like I said, the game keeps crashing when attempting to play online …
All the players that bought the game are awaiting a patch (the game came out on 6th of november), but nothing is out for the moment.
If you want this game buy it ! But not yet, wait for a patch !
